mrs-roboto's Diaryland Diary

The First 50 Mrs-Roboto Facts

  • I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and lived in the same house for the first 12 years of my life.
  • We moved when my one and only sister was born.
  • I never liked the second house my family occupied. It was too big and cold.
  • My mom and dad still live in that house.
  • We never had cable when I was a kid despite my repeated requests for it (I want my MTV).
  • My parents have cable now and it pisses me off.
  • I moved to Boston when I was 18. I knew only one other person upon arrival, my roommate Jen.
  • I have no fear of the unknown. I'd rather take a chance and be disappointed than wonder what could have been.
  • My dream car is a red, Cabriolet convertible but I currently drive a 2000 Chevy S10 pickup (not nearly as sexy).
  • I ate Vegan for a couple of years but in the end my love of fish and goat cheese won out.
  • I eat sushi at least once a week (mhhhmm, Toro).
  • I have no desire to have children.
  • However, I have picked out names for the children I don't plan to have. Violet if it's a girl and Jason it's a boy.
  • The desire to name something does not outweigh my desire to not have children. I'll stick with dogs.
  • The smartest thing I ever did was marry Pete.
  • His kindness, compassion, and wit take my breath away.
  • He's fine too.
  • I used to wear my hair shaved in a "fringe" style. My hair now is ridiculously long.
  • My stylist (and my coworker) have convinced me to give longer bangs (ala 1970's Cher) a shot.
  • I hate growing out my hair but I'm going to give it a try for fashions sake.
  • I'm really not much of a fashion maven although I have a great collection of vintage dresses, coats and shoes.
  • I prefer dresses and skirts to jeans and T-shirts but I'll wear pants when I hike and camp or do other utilitarian activities.
  • I believe I was born to live on the West Coast and I can't ever imagine moving back to NY.
  • I love Seattle, especially the summers.
  • I hate extreme heat and humidity but I also despise cold weather and snow.
  • I have never skydived nor do I want to.
  • I have kayaked in Alaska, parasailed in Mexico, and hitchhiked in Washington State.
  • I can remember the lyrics to every radio-ready song and commercial jingle made between 1980 and 1989. Apparently, those were my most formative years where I was able to absorb information and experiences at a remarkable rate and I choose to squander my abilities on pop culture trivia.
  • In high school, I had to repeat freshman Algebra over the summer.
  • I barely passed Geometry my sophomore year and then I never took another math class (I took music in college which counted as a math - it was a very liberal university).
  • I entered high school with a partial scholarship but proceeded to lose it within a year due to slacking off and screwing around.
  • I am passionate about friendships and loyal to a fault.
  • But if you cross me, you're going down.
  • I forgive but I don't forget.
  • Actually, I don't even forgive that well.
  • I can hold a grudge for ages.
  • I recently ended a friendship of fifteen years.
  • I should write about that some time but I probably won't.
  • I have a wonderful and supportive group of friends in Seattle.
  • Outside of my husband and a few select men, I prefer the company of women.
  • I don't hate men by any means, I can just relate more easily to women.
  • I am ridiculously heterosexual. I've never kissed a girl. I'm so vanilla.
  • A friends mom, who happens to be a lesbian, once told me same sex relationships are easier but you have to be born into it.
  • Based on experiences with my gay and lesbian friends and their significant others I do not find this to be true. Their relationships seem just as difficult as a hetero relationships if not harder to due to societal constraints.
  • I am staunchly anti-porn and believe it objectifies women. In my opinion, it's degrading and debasing.
  • That said, I believe strongly in personal freedoms (especially the freedom of speech and expression) and I am against censoring pornographic material from consenting adults.
  • Nonetheless, I wish that a law would be passed that would make it illegal to solicit non interested parties at random through e-mail and instant messenger as I get about 16 e-mails per day that contain pornographic material or links to pornographic content.
  • I have no hang ups about being naked and will do so without reservation should the situation be suited for it.
  • I have gotten naked in front of complete strangers many times.
  • I do not link nudity and sexuality necessarily.
